When you think of great Texas shopping destinations, you need to think Houston. This bustling city of more than 2 million residents may have a lot of oil, but shopping definitely runs a close second. If you are visiting Houston for the first time, you’ll want to begin your shopping excursion at the magnificent Houston Galleria, the most luxurious shopping destination in the city. The Houston Galleria is home to over 375 stores and restaurants, helping to make this gargantuan 2.4 million square foot mall one of the largest in the Country. The department store line-up alone is enough to get your shopping juices flowing – Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Houston’s only Nordstrom. While it’s true that you could spend a few weeks shopping at the Galleria, we suggest that you take a break and explore some of the other great malls in and around the city.
Highland Village Mall is an open air delight, located about 10 minutes from downtown at Westheimer Road. This popular Houston shopping destination is home to stores like Ann Taylor, Anthropologie, Pottery Barn, and Crate and Barrel. The Memorial City Mall, located in the Memorial City area of Houston is a massive shopping palladium catering to fashionistas and families alike.
